MYSORE OVERVIEW-

Mysore is the second largest city in Karnataka. The city is the cultural capital of Karnataka. Mysore is the city of Palaces. It is known as the royal city in India. It blends Hindu,Islamic, Gothic and Rajput styles. It comprised of  the traditional flavor. There are Royal buildings, modern amusement parks, museums and gardens. There is a range of rice-based dishes includes chitranna ,  and pulliyoigrae are the traditional food of Mysore.

Mysore Airport known as Mandakalli airport is a domestic airport. International airport is the Bangalore International Airport providing flight services in cities. The Mysore Railway Station links the city with all major cities in India.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF MYSORE-

Mysore was the capital of the Kingdom of Mysore until 1950, when Haidar Ali and Tipu Sultan were the defacto rulers. Mysore state continued to be ruled by Maharaja Jaya Chamaraja Wadiyar. Mysore city is known as the ‘City of Palaces’ and the ‘Ivory City’. The Cholas who ruled the region for a Century. Bettada Chamaraja Wodeyar was the raja of Mysore rebuilt the fort of Mysore. He has developed Mysore into a beautiful city with excellent planning. It was ruled by Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan. Mysore was the prominent city during the reign of  Tipu Sultan.

TIPS-

  1. The destination has to be visit is the Mysore Palace, Jaganmohan Palace and Lalitha Mahal.

  2. Visit to explore Srirangapatnam on the Bangalore-Mysore Highway.
  3. Visit the famous markets of the city are Lansdowne building, Devaraja Market, Gandhi Square, shops around KR Circle, markets on Dhanvanthri Road,Sayyaji Rao Road and Ashoka Road.
  4. Reach the Railway Museum and Planet X.
