There will hardly be a Bollywood fan who is not inspired by Amitabh Bachchan. Big B is an Indian superstar who has appeared in numerous Bollywood movies. Often regarded as the greatest actors of Indian cinema, Big B has played various roles in his life which include being an Actor, Film Producer, and Television Host. Performing in the film industry for the past four decades, he has been a part of many incredible movies. But one genre I would specifically want to talk about today is the War genre. Yes, Amitabh Bachchan has delved into this exciting genre too and made quite a mark. Hence, here is my list of top war movie starring Amitabh Bachchan that you need to watch right away, and in no particular order.
Saat Hindustani
Big B made his Bollywood debut in with a black and white movie called Saat Hindustani. The title of the movie literally translates to seven Indians. The movie is about the struggle to liberate Goa from the Portuguese. Playing one of the seven titular Indians in this Khwaja Ahmad Abbas’ directorial, Amitabh Bachchan’s performance was praised by many.
Deewaar
Deewaar is not just another war movie, it is much more than. Milan Luthria did an amazing job capturing Indo-Pak war in its rawest form that strikes you every time you watch it. The movie revolves around the struggle Gaurav goes through while trying to free his dad who is a prisoner of war. Of all the character in the movie, Maj. Ranvir Kaul played by Amitabh Bachchan was the most memorable one. The movie did amazingly well in theatres and managed to pull in some good reviews from critics as well.
Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo
This is another Indo-Pakistan movie. Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo revolves around the emotional journey that Major General Amarjeet Singh goes through in his life. There are plenty of action scenes that will satisfy the action enthusiast in you. This romantic song “Humein Tumse Hua Hai Pyaar” was extremely famous and became an instant classic.
Thugs of Hindostan
Wondering who plays the thug in Thugs of Hindostan? It’s none other our very own Amitabh Bachchan. Thugs of Hindostan is an Indian action-adventure movie that is set during the time of British Rule in India. Big B’s played as ‘King of thugs’ Khudabaksh in this movie. Even at the age of 76, Mr Bachchan plays his character in such a way that is a treat to watch.
My Verdict
Amitabh Bachchan is not just an actor for us, is he? For anyone who lives and breathes cinema, knows the importance of Big B and how his acting skill movies had helped Indian cinema to evolve over the years. I think he will be cherished by the Indian audience forever. These are some of my fav Big B movies. If you think I missed any, let me know in the comment section.
