While staring at the animals is tons of fun the kids are going to want to do something. Make sure that you are mixing in the petting zoo, the mountain they can actually climb and other fun features.

Lapwing

Size: 28-31cm, with a wingspan of 70-75cm
Weight: about 230 g
Group: Flock

The Lapwing is a wading bird. They are pigeon-sized birds with black and white colors. They have wide-rounded wings, a white face, and short yellow legs. They are found in Europe and Asia. They eat a variety of animals and plants, such as worms, beetles, larvae, spiders, insects, caterpillars, and seeds. Their nests are created with stems and leaves and are created in quiet areas in the grasslands.

Lemur 

Type: Mammal
Diet: Omnivore
Average lifespan: Up to 18 years
Size: Head and body, 17.75 in (45 cm); Tail, 21.75 in (55 cm)
Weight: 5 to 7.5 lbs (2.3 to 3.4 kg)|
Top Speed: 20km/h (12mph)

Protection status: Endangered

Lemurs have furry, pointed ears and long tails. They have long bodies, long limbs and bushy tails, and come in a variety of colors — brown, black, red and even white. They are found only on the African island of Madagascar.  They use their hands and feet to move nimbly through the trees. They will eat most small things from berries, nuts and leaves to insects and spiders.  They produce loud wailing calls to mark their territory.

Liger 

Type: Mammal
Diet: Carnivore
Size: 2.8-3.6m (9-12ft)
Weight: 400-600kg (882-1,322lbs)
Top Speed: 80km/h (50mph)
Life Span: 20-26 years
Lifestyle: Solitary
Conservation Status: Endangered

The liger is a big cat born from the breeding of a male lion and a female tiger. They will eat a wide range of large and small mammals and including fish, frogs and crabs and some vegetation such as grass to aid digestion. They live in special zoos and research places. 

Llama

Type: Mammal
Diet: Herbivore
Size: Height at the shoulder, 47 in (120 cm)
Weight: 250 lbs (113 kg)
Top Speed: 45km/h (28mph)
Life Span: 15-20 years
Lifestyle: Herd

The llama is a South American relative of the camel.  They are used for meat, wool, skin and for transporting heavy loads. They graze on grass and, like cows, regurgitate their food and chew it as cud. These animals lie down on the ground and they may spit, hiss, or even kick at their owners until their burden is lessened.

Lorikeet 

Type: bird
Diet: herbivore
Average lifespan: average 7 – 15 years
Size: range in size from 150mm (6″) to 400mm (16″)
Weight: Average 35 – 200 grams (1.1 – 6.4 ounces)
Group: Flocks

Lorikeets are found in coastal areas around Australia. They are small to medium-sized parrots. They are very colorful birds with red, yellow, orange, blue, purple, and green feathers. They are slender with long tails. They like to eat fruits like apples, berries, and pears. They also eat insects, seeds, and grubs. They can fly very long distances.
