The Chennai International Aiprort, Cochin International Airport and the Bangalore International Airport are the airports. Mysore Airport is the domestic airport.  Visit Ooty by train has to be from Mettupalayam.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF OoTY-

The hills of the Nilgiris reffered to the Chera empire under the Ganga dynasty and the Hoysala empire. It is later being ruled by King Vishnuvardhana. Tipu Sultan of the Kingdom of Mysore was next to rule.  John Sullivan was the governor of Coimbatore has ruled during British reign. He liked the climate and natural beauty. The British Raj made the region by contributing to efforts of development. Ooty becoming the summer residence of the Madras Presidency. The development of the area with the building of a road network and modern railway system. Development was pursued with a blend of the enterprise of the British and the Madras government.

TIPS-

1. Reach Coimbatore early in the morning and get a bus to Ooty.  Head to Avalanche lake is a fun destination for trekking, camping and kayaking.
2. Take a  govt. safari by the forest department to get to the amazing Upper Lake.
3. Visit the botanical garden, the Wax World Museum and Dodabetta Tea Museum.
4. Visit Elk hill and check the Toy Train timings to Mettupalayam.
